Your adventure begins in the community of Benoit's Cove, 20 minutes from the city
of Corner Brook (see Location Map) and 30 minutes from Marble
Mountain - Atlantic Canada's premiere ski and snowboard resort.
Our heated,
10 passenger Bombardier BR400
snow-cat will transport you from our base to well above the tree line (elevation 2,500 feet) to fabulous skiing
and riding and spectacular views away from lifts, line ups, and crowds.
Your ski or snowboard adventure begins with a 20 minute shuttle ride (if required) from the major hotels at 8:30
AM, to the waiting snow cat. Transfer your skis from the shuttle to the cat and off you go for a day of backcountry
adventure.
The ski day includes five runs in the morning, snacks and lunch which we provide, and five runs in the afternoon;
for a total ski experience of over 12-14,000 vertical feet. With 16 feet of annual snow fall and 30 square kilometers
available to us, we have the opportunity to find favourable snow conditions almost every day.
The day ends with the shuttle returning to hotels, and terminating at the Marble Mountain base lodge in Steady Brook.
The terrain consists of everything from intermediate to extreme slopes. Our experienced guides, equipped with portable
radios, will ensure they find suitable terrain and snow conditions for each group. Along with taking all precautions
to ensure a high level of safety, we equip all skiers with the latest electronic avalanche transceivers.
The 10-15 minute snow cat rides give you time to relax, clean your goggles, and warm up between runs. Our season
runs from mid-December to late April. Whether you come with friends, or are travelling alone, you will find a great
time to be had by all!
Like any other adventure activity, cat skiing with Blomidon Cat Skiing Limited involves risk. Skiers should be
of at least advanced intermediate ability. We offer backcountry skiing in an uncontrolled environment. Weather
and snow conditions can change quickly and skiers should be prepared. All participants are required to sign a comprehensive
release of liability prior to cat skiing with us.
Blomidon Cat Skiing can also accommodate telemark and nordic touring skiers and is proud to now offer an equipment
rental program for telemark and nordic plus guided nordic trips to areas including Gros Morne National Park. Cross
country skiers may be interested in one-way lifts to get them into the backcountry early in the day, and non-skiers
should ask about our sightseeing snow-cat.
